Consumerism and its flaws, tackling the increasing amount of textile waste in households.

Q1- - What are the existing methods that people (families) utilise to dispose their textile wastes. What is the average quantity of wastage.

Q2- What are the adverse effects of the resulting wastage. The extent of textile pollution and how it effects the environment and the society.  Spreading Awareness.

Q3- How to combat the problem and find a sustainable solution. How can the solution benefit not just the environment but the households on an individual level as well, ensuring maximum effectiveness.

Q4- How to ensure total usage of wastes like textile scraps, is there a possibility of true zero wastage.

Q5- How to successfully initiate an environmental movement, bringing together the society in need and skilled craftsmen/designers/artists to support the cause.

As a textile design student, the one issue that concerns me the most is the growing consumerism in our society. I myself am guilty of embracing consumerism as I've been a shopaholic and a spendthrift in the past. I once used to pride myself on owning a massive wardrobe.

So how did I get over this reckless addiction?

I started educating myself about the Textile Industry.
Beneath all the glory, I found brutality. Both environmental and human.

I remember being extremely moved by one documentary in particular which chronicled the grisly details of the infamous Rana Plaza incident that caused the death of 1,134 garment factory workers.

The sheer guilt and agony that struck me after the preceding wave of realisation was life-altering.

Throughout my academic years as a Textile design student, I wished to educate people about the issues existing within my discipline.

I decided to do so in the most absorbable means of communication.
I decided to combine my textile background and my passion for animation.

So I did my research, articulated my thoughts, wrote a narrative and started working on what turned out to become one of my most personal projects.
